FULL-INVERTER DEHUMIDIFICATION
Moisture control that slows down instead of switching off
A conventional dehumidifier has one speed. It runs flat out until the room reaches its target humidity, stops, waits for the air to turn damp again and starts over, all day and all night. The Solenco Fairland Inverter-Plus works the way a modern inverter air conditioner does: its compressor and fan speed up when the air is wet, slow right down as the room approaches the humidity you have set, and then hold it there.
That matters most in the rooms this machine is built for. An indoor pool, a spa or a wine cellar never stops producing moisture, so the dehumidifier runs for most of the year and its running cost ends up mattering more than its price. Fairland rates the Inverter-Plus at an average DER of 4.3 litres extracted per kWh and says it uses up to 50% less energy than a fixed-speed unit of the same capacity.
Fairland has built inverter pool heat pumps since 1999 and launched the Inverter-Plus in 2019 as its first full-inverter dehumidifier, running on R32 refrigerant. In South Africa it is supplied and supported by Solenco, the local distributor behind the Meaco and Solenco ranges.
If the room never stops making moisture, the dehumidifier never stops running, and that is exactly where an inverter pays for itself.
WHERE IT BELONGS
Made for pools, cellars, gyms and collections
Indoor pools are the classic case. Warm water evaporates constantly, and without a dehumidifier the moisture ends up as condensation on windows and ceilings, then as mould, peeling paint, rotting timber and corroded metal. Fairland recommends holding a pool hall at around 50% relative humidity.
The same machine suits any room where damp does slow, expensive damage: wine cellars, where labels lift and racking suffers; archives, galleries and museums, where paper, canvas and timber move with the humidity; gyms, change rooms and wellness areas full of sweat and steam; and storerooms holding stock that cannot get damp.
It works in air from 10 °C to 38 °C and lets you set the target anywhere from 30% to 95% relative humidity, so a cellar and a steamy pool hall can each be held exactly where they need to be.
QUIET OPERATION
Quiet enough for a wellness area or a gallery
Fixed-speed commercial dehumidifiers are loud, which is why they usually end up in a plant room with ducting. Because the Inverter-Plus spends most of its time at part speed, it is quiet enough to stand in the room it is drying. At one metre Fairland measures 38.3 to 45.6 dB(A) on the 60L, 40.3 to 45.8 dB(A) on the 96L and 39.9 to 46.4 dB(A) on the 120L, the lower figure at part load and the higher at full output.
Two modes let you choose the balance. Smart mode lets the compressor run anywhere from 20% to 100% of capacity to reach the target humidity quickly; Silence mode caps it at 80% for rooms where quiet matters more than speed, such as a spa or a gallery during opening hours.
The casing is metal and aluminium alloy with an anti-rust finish, which is what you want in the humid, chlorinated air around a pool. At a slim 291 mm deep, it stands against a wall or hangs on one without eating into the room.
CHOOSING A SIZE
Three capacities, sized by room and by pool
The Inverter-Plus comes in three sizes. The 60L model suits rooms of about 60 to 120 m², the 96L model 90 to 180 m² and the 120L model 120 to 240 m². For an indoor pool, Fairland sizes the 96L for a water surface of up to 40 m² and the 120L for up to 50 m².
The model numbers are litres per day at 30 °C and 80% relative humidity, the standard test condition. That is a very humid room, and extraction falls as the air gets drier: at 30 °C and 60% humidity Fairland’s figures work out to about 41, 62 and 82 litres a day. If you are between sizes, go up rather than down. A larger inverter unit simply runs slower and quieter to hold the same humidity, while an undersized one runs flat out and never quite gets there. Send us the room’s dimensions and what it is used for, and we will size it for you.
INSTALLATION
On the floor or on the wall, draining to waste
The Inverter-Plus stands on its own feet or hangs on the wall from the supplied hanging strip, and the choice usually comes down to where the drain is. Condensate leaves by gravity through the 2 m drain pipe, so the unit needs to sit above a floor drain, gully or waste point. There is no built-in pump, which is the main practical difference from the mobile Solenco 85L.
Around a pool, Fairland asks for at least 2 m between the unit and the water’s edge and 1 m clear in front of the air outlet. It needs a well-ventilated position away from flammable materials, and fixing it to a wall is a job for a competent installer.
Day to day it runs from the touch panel on the front, with on and off timers, or from your phone through the Fairland Smart Pool app over Wi-Fi, so you can check and adjust the humidity without walking to the plant room.
LOCAL SUPPLY AND SUPPORT
Made for South African power, backed in South Africa
The Inverter-Plus runs on a single-phase 230 V, 50 Hz supply. Even the 120L model draws no more than about 6 A at full output (0.22 to 1.36 kW), so it needs an ordinary single-phase circuit rather than three-phase power.
Machines of this size are sometimes brought in on demand by importers, built for other markets and with nobody local to repair them. These units come through Solenco South Africa, the official distributor, with a two-year warranty, a local repair centre and spare parts held here.

How the Inverter-Plus sits against the alternatives
The obvious comparison is the Solenco 85L Commercial Dehumidifier at R23 999, just over half the price of the 60L Inverter-Plus. They are built for different jobs. The 85L is a mobile, roto-moulded, fixed-speed machine with a pump that lifts condensate 4.8 m, and it keeps working down to 5 °C. That makes it the right choice for building sites, flood and water-damage drying, cold storerooms and any job where the dehumidifier moves on when the work is done.
The Inverter-Plus is the better buy where a dehumidifier is installed for good and runs most of the year. Its inverter drive keeps running costs down over years of service, it is far quieter at part load, and it stands against a wall or hangs on one instead of sitting in the middle of the floor. It is not meant for unheated spaces below 10 °C, and there the 85L is the better machine.
For a single room in a home, a domestic dehumidifier such as the MeacoDry Arete Two 25L at R10 699 is the sensible choice: it extracts up to 25 litres a day, adds HEPA air purification and costs a fraction of a commercial unit. Choose the Inverter-Plus when the space is a pool hall, cellar, gym or collection that a household machine cannot keep up with.
