Red Light Therapy for Dogs, Cats, Horses & Other Animals

Red light therapy for animals, also known as photobiomodulation (PBM), uses specific wavelengths of red and near-infrared light. It is used in veterinary and animal rehabilitation settings for a range of musculoskeletal, mobility, soft-tissue and recovery applications.

EcoHub stocks Photizo animal light therapy devices in different formats, making it possible to choose a device according to the size of the animal, the area being treated and the amount of coverage required.

Red Light Therapy for Dogs

Photobiomodulation is commonly used in canine rehabilitation and may form part of a broader management programme for joint stiffness, osteoarthritis, mobility problems, muscle and soft-tissue injuries, post-operative recovery and other rehabilitation needs.

For dogs, a compact handheld device such as Photizo Vetcare is useful when light needs to be applied to a relatively small or specific area. Larger flexible LED pads provide greater coverage where a broader treatment area is required.

Equine Red Light Therapy

Red light therapy for horses and equine photobiomodulation are used in rehabilitation environments where targeted light therapy may be incorporated into the management of muscles, joints, tendons, ligaments and other soft tissues.

Coverage becomes particularly important with horses. A flexible LED therapy pad can treat a substantially larger area than a small handheld applicator, making it particularly relevant for equine light therapy and larger-animal applications.

Red Light Therapy for Cats

Photobiomodulation is also used in feline rehabilitation, including applications associated with mobility, joint conditions, recovery and pain-management programmes. Because cats are smaller, a compact device can be particularly useful for applying light to a specific area without requiring a large treatment surface.

Handheld or Flexible LED Light Therapy?

The right device depends largely on the animal and the size of the area you want to cover. Handheld animal light therapy devices are well suited to precise, targeted applications, while flexible LED therapy pads allow a larger area to be covered at once.

This can make the larger pads especially useful for horses and larger dogs, while compact devices remain convenient for dogs, cats and other smaller animals.

Photizo Animal Light Therapy

Photizo devices use a combination of red and near-infrared light rather than red light alone. This is why terms such as red light therapy, near-infrared light therapy, LED light therapy and photobiomodulation may all be used when describing this type of animal light therapy.

Always follow the instructions supplied with the individual device. For an animal with an injury, unexplained pain, reduced mobility or an ongoing medical condition, seek advice from a veterinarian or suitably qualified animal-health professional.
