Daikin’s value inverter, sized for a bedroom
The Sensira is the wall split Daikin builds to do the job properly at a lower price than the Perfera. This is the 9 000 Btu model in the new-generation FTXC-E series, pairing the FTXC25EV1F indoor unit with the RXC25EV1 outdoor unit.
It is sized for bedrooms, guest rooms and studies of up to about 20 m², and like every Daikin split it heats as well as it cools.
At its rating it delivers 2.56 kW of cooling (about 8 700 Btu/h) and 2.84 kW of heating, with a Daikin network adaptor built in for app control.
Proper Daikin inverter cooling and heating for the rooms you use, without paying for features they will rarely need.
EFFICIENCY
A++ cooling on 765 W
Daikin rates the Sensira 9 000 at a seasonal efficiency of 6.8 (SEER, A++) in cooling and 4.5 (SCOP, A+) in heating. At its rating it draws 765 W to deliver 2.56 kW of cooling.
As an inverter it varies its output between 1.30 and 3.00 kW in cooling, and between 1.30 and 4.00 kW in heating, slowing down once the room is at temperature instead of switching on and off.
The outdoor unit is compact, at 550 × 658 × 273 mm and 24 kg, which makes it easy to place on a small balcony or a narrow side wall.
DESIGN
A cleaner look for the new generation
Daikin redesigned the Sensira for the FTXC-E series. The indoor unit takes its lines from Japanese origami: a sharp crease runs through the centre of the front panel and folds into a smooth, flat surface, with defined edges where the older Sensira was rounded.
A single, minimal LED indicator replaces the busier display of earlier models, so the unit sits quietly on the wall of a modern room.
The 9 000 Btu indoor unit measures 288 × 770 × 234 mm and weighs 9 kg, compact enough for a bedroom wall above a bed or a desk.
WHERE IT WORKS
Made for bedrooms and studies
On its quietest fan setting the indoor unit runs at 21 dBA, quiet enough for a bedroom at night, and sleep mode adjusts the temperature gradually overnight.
A guest room or study used now and then is where the Sensira makes the most sense: the room gets proper Daikin inverter cooling and heating without paying for features it will rarely use.
For the bedroom you sleep in every night, the Perfera 9 000 Btu is quieter on silent (19 dBA), considerably more efficient and adds air purification.
COMFORT AND FILTERS
Quiet, filtered, and easy to live with
A Saranet filter catches airborne dust as air enters the unit, and a titanium apatite deodorising filter takes up everyday odours. Both are there to keep the air the Sensira circulates cleaner; neither turns it into an air purifier, for which see our air purifiers.
Vertical auto-swing spreads the air through the room. Sleep mode eases the temperature through the night so the room does not end up too cold or too warm by morning, and Powerful mode gives a short boost when you come home to a hot room.
Econo mode caps the power draw, which helps when the aircon shares a solar or backup supply with the rest of the house, and the self-diagnosis function tells a technician where to look if something goes wrong.
MADE FOR SOUTH AFRICAN POWER
Daikin South Africa stock, ready for load-shedding
This unit is supplied through Daikin South Africa for a 220–240 V single-phase supply, so the local Daikin warranty applies and parts come through Daikin’s South African network. Air conditioners brought in by private importers are not always covered here.
Auto-restart returns the unit to its previous settings when the power comes back after an outage, so there is no reaching for the remote after load-shedding. At 765 W in cooling it is a light load on a home inverter.
A Daikin network adaptor is built in, so the Sensira connects to Daikin’s Onecta app out of the box and can be controlled from your phone at home or away. An infrared remote is in the box.

How the Sensira 9 000 Btu sits against the alternatives
The Daikin Perfera 9 000 Btu is the premium alternative for the same room. Daikin rates it at a SEER of 9.47 (A+++) against 6.8 here, it draws 480 W against 765 W for similar cooling, runs at 19 dBA on silent and adds Flash Streamer, a silver allergen filter, twin-flap Comfort+ airflow and a motion sensor. In a room used every night, that pays back in comfort and running cost.
If the room is larger than about 20 m², the Sensira 12 000 Btu is the next size up.
Where several bedrooms need cooling and there is little space outside, a multi-split system runs several indoor units from one outdoor unit.
Questions we are asked about the Sensira 9 000 Btu
Up to about 20 m² with a standard ceiling height: a bedroom, guest room or study. Large sun-facing windows or a hot roof above add load; in that case the Sensira 12 000 Btu is the safer choice.
At its rating it draws 765 W in cooling and 750 W in heating, and less once the room is at temperature, because the inverter slows the compressor down.
Yes. At 765 W in cooling it is a light load on a home inverter, and Econo mode can cap its draw further. Auto-restart brings it back to its previous settings once the power returns.
The indoor unit runs from 21 dBA on its quietest setting to 40 dBA on high in cooling. The outdoor unit is rated at 45 dBA.
Both are Daikin inverter heat pumps with built-in app control. The Perfera is more efficient (A+++ against A++), quieter on silent, and adds Flash Streamer air purification, a silver allergen filter, twin-flap Comfort+ airflow and a two-area motion sensor. The Sensira does the core job well for less.
Yes. The new-generation Sensira has a Daikin network adaptor built in, so it connects to the Onecta app without an add-on module. The infrared remote is also supplied.
No. A split system has to be installed by a qualified installer, with copper piping, cabling and a bracket or base for the outdoor unit. Our installers cover the major South African cities and quote separately. The units can sit up to 20 m apart (15 m in height).
Not in the way a purifier does. The Saranet filter catches dust and the titanium apatite filter deodorises, but there is no Flash Streamer or HEPA stage. For allergies or smoke, look at the Perfera, which adds Flash Streamer and a silver allergen filter, or a dedicated air purifier.
