An EV charger that knows what the solar is doing
The EcoFlow PowerPulse 2 is an 11 kW three-phase home EV charger built to work with EcoFlow PowerOcean systems. In solar mode it charges the car from surplus solar the house is not using, so the car fills up from the roof rather than the grid.
It also charges fast, on a schedule or to a custom plan, controlled from the EcoFlow app, its LCD screen, an RFID card or plug-and-charge.
It has a Type 2 socket, the standard on most electric cars sold in South Africa. The charging cable is not included: you use your own Type 2 cable, or order EcoFlow’s 7.5 m cable separately.
POWER AND SAFETY
11 kW on a three-phase supply
On a three-phase 400 V, 16 A supply it charges at up to 11 kW, about three times what a standard wall socket can deliver. On a single-phase supply the same unit is limited to about 3.7 kW at 16 A.
A built-in MID-certified meter records every charge, and real-time load balancing uses the house meter to slow charging when the home is drawing heavily, so the main breaker does not trip.
It has a Type A residual current device with 6 mA DC detection on board, is IP55 rated with a cable plugged in and works from −30 to 50 °C, so it can go on an outside wall or in a carport.

Talks to the PowerOcean over cable or Wi-Fi
The PowerPulse 2 connects to a PowerOcean Plus over RS485 or Wi-Fi, and appears in the same EcoFlow app as the battery and solar. It supports OCPP 1.6-J for third-party charging platforms.
It measures 333 × 226 × 145 mm and weighs about 3.5 kg.
EcoFlow South Africa does not yet list the PowerPulse 2 on its own site; the unit we supply is the European 11 kW version, with EcoFlow’s 3-year warranty.

Where it fits
It pairs naturally with a three-phase PowerOcean Plus system, which shares solar surplus with it. Load balancing needs an EcoFlow meter such as the ADL400N-CT or ADL200N-CT.
On a single-phase home its output is limited to about 3.7 kW, which still adds roughly 20 to 25 km of range an hour to most electric cars.
