THE HEART OF THE SYSTEM
The inverter on its own, for installers and upgrades
This is the EcoFlow PowerOcean single-phase hybrid inverter, in 5 or 6 kW, sold on its own. It is the unit that sits on top of a PowerOcean battery stack, manages the solar, the battery and the grid, and supplies the backup circuits when the power goes.
Installers building systems to their own design buy it this way, as do owners replacing or adding an inverter. For a first system, the complete PowerOcean 6kW package with batteries, base and meter is simpler to order.
It works only with EcoFlow PowerOcean LFP batteries, which connect to it through the stack rather than with loose battery cables.

CONNECTIONS
Solar, grid, backup and meter in one bay
Two independent MPPT inputs take up to 11 kW of panels on the 5 kW model and 12 kW on the 6 kW, with a 90 to 520 V working range, 600 V maximum and 18 A per input (16 A when both are used).
Separate grid and backup terminals let your installer split the distribution board into backed-up and grid-only circuits. The meter port takes the ADL200N-CT smart meter, which the inverter needs for self-consumption and backup control.
Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and Ethernet are built in, with 4G through EcoFlow’s optional dongle, and the inverter updates over the air through the EcoFlow app.
BUILT TO GO OUTSIDE
IP65, 21.5 kg and quiet
The inverter is rated IP65, works from −20 to 50 °C and runs at 40 dB, cooled by natural convection with no fan. At 679.6 × 182.7 × 280 mm and 21.5 kg it lifts onto a battery stack without special equipment.
EcoFlow’s installation guide asks for 300 mm clearance around the stack and more than 500 m from the sea.
Every inverter we sell comes through EcoFlow South Africa and carries its local warranty, which EcoFlow South Africa states as 10 years.

How the PowerOcean inverter sits against the alternatives
The OCEAN 2 Plus single-phase inverter is the step up: 8 to 12 kW, three solar inputs, whole-home backup with a built-in meter and IP66. It also runs first-generation PowerOcean batteries, so it is worth considering if a larger inverter is the goal.
A conventional low-voltage hybrid inverter such as the Sunsynk 5kW works with a wider choice of 48 V batteries. The PowerOcean trades that choice for a high-voltage stack with no battery cabling to run and a single app for the whole system.
Questions we are asked about the PowerOcean inverter
Both take the same batteries. The 6 kW gives 1 kW more backup output and 1 kW more solar input; the 5 kW suits smaller homes and is sometimes chosen where a utility limits the inverter size.
EcoFlow PowerOcean LFP batteries, one to four per inverter. It does not work with 48 V batteries from other brands.
Yes, for the inverter to see what the house draws from the grid. The ADL200N-CT is sold separately, and is included in our complete PowerOcean 6kW package.
Yes, one per stack: the floor battery base, or the wall-mounted battery base for a wall installation.
Yes. EcoFlow designed the PowerOcean to work alongside an existing grid-tied solar system through its grid connection.
