Whole-home backup built into one unit
This is the EcoFlow OCEAN 2 Plus single-phase hybrid inverter, in 8, 10 or 12 kW, sold on its own. It carries a 72 A backup bypass and a smart meter inside the unit, so it backs up the whole distribution board with no separate gateway or meter.
Installers building systems to their own design buy it this way, as do owners upgrading from a smaller inverter. For a first system, the complete OCEAN 2 Plus package with batteries and base is simpler to order.
It runs EcoFlow OCEAN 2 LFP batteries in 5 and 8 kWh, up to twelve per inverter, stacked directly beneath it.
SOLAR HEADROOM
Three inputs, up to 24 kW of panels
Three independent MPPT inputs take one string each, at up to 8 kW and 16 A per input and 900 V maximum. EcoFlow rates the 8 kW model for 16 kW of panels, the 10 kW for 20 kW and the 12 kW for 24 kW.
On backup the inverter delivers its full rating continuously, with EcoFlow’s 0 ms switchover on the backup side under its stated conditions. Third-party solar inverters can be connected on its backup side.
EcoFlow gives a maximum efficiency of 97.6% in its European datasheet and 97.9% in its Australian one.
BUILT FOR ANY WALL
IP66, −20 to 60 °C
The inverter is sealed to IP66 against dust and powerful water jets and works from −20 to 60 °C, indoors or out, floor-standing on a battery stack or wall-mounted.
It measures 680 × 203 × 406 mm and weighs about 36.5 kg, with arc-fault detection, Wi-Fi on 2.4 and 5 GHz, Bluetooth, RS485 and CAN, and EcoFlow’s homeowner and installer apps.
Every inverter we sell comes through EcoFlow South Africa and carries its local warranty, which EcoFlow South Africa states as 15 years.

How the OCEAN 2 Plus inverter sits against the alternatives
The first-generation PowerOcean single-phase inverter is the smaller choice at 5 or 6 kW with two solar inputs, backing up essential circuits rather than the whole board.
Against two Huawei Power-M modules in parallel for 10 kW, one OCEAN 2 Plus 10 kW delivers the same output from a single inverter with more solar input. The Power-M remains the slimmer cabinet, at 16 cm deep, and is rated at 40 dBA for an indoor installation.

Size it from the largest loads that could run together during an outage. 8 kW suits most homes with a geyser and pool pump on backup; 10 or 12 kW adds air-conditioning or a borehole.
