Reverse osmosis on tap, and out of sight
The DNA Pure Flow lives in the cupboard under your kitchen sink and delivers reverse osmosis water through its own small faucet on the counter. Nothing stands on the worktop, nothing needs refilling, and a glass of purified water is as quick to pour as a glass from the tap beside it.
It is a five-stage system with a reverse osmosis membrane rated at 100 gallons a day — the method that removes most of the dissolved solids, salts and metals a jug filter leaves behind — plus a built-in pump, so it does not rely on strong mains pressure to push water through the membrane.
It is also the most economical way into reverse osmosis in the DNA range. What you give up for the price is temperature: the Pure Flow gives you purified water at room temperature, and your kettle does the rest.

FIVE STAGES, TWO CARTRIDGES
Five stages of purification in two cartridges
DNA packs the five stages into two cartridges. The CBPA combi cartridge deals with residual chlorine, odour, colour and taste; the reverse osmosis cartridge holds the membrane, which DNA says removes heavy metals, bacteria, viruses, micro-organisms and pesticide residues.
The two wear at different rates, which is why they are separate. DNA gives the combi cartridge a typical life of three to six months and the RO cartridge 18 to 24 months, so you replace the cheap part often and the expensive part rarely. Indicator lights on the unit tell you which is due.
Changing them is a quick swap — DNA quotes three seconds per cartridge — with no filter housings to unscrew. In a typical year that means two to four combi cartridges, plus one RO cartridge every 18 to 24 months, depending on your water and use.
INSTALLATION
Everything in the box to fit it
The Pure Flow arrives with what it needs to go in: the RO unit, both cartridges, a 3.2-litre tank, the power supply, the faucet, an accessory kit and two lengths of PE tubing. It connects to the cold-water supply under the sink and to the waste pipe, and the faucet mounts on the counter or the sink deck.
DNA describes it as easy to install, and for anyone who has plumbed in a dishwasher that is fair. Fitting the faucet does mean a hole in the counter or sink deck if you do not have a spare one, so check that first; otherwise it is a short job for a plumber. We supply the system, not the installation.
It is compact for an under-sink unit at 15 by 40 by 35 cm and 6.35 kg, so it fits into a standard kitchen cupboard alongside the usual cleaning supplies. It also needs a plug point in the cupboard for the pump.
WHO IT IS FOR
Kitchens where the counter is already full
It suits owner-occupied homes where the plumbing can be touched and the worktop cannot take another appliance. Once fitted, the only sign of it is the small faucet beside the main mixer.
It suits people who cook with a lot of water too. Purified water for soup, rice, coffee and the kettle is as easy to draw as tap water, so it gets used for everything rather than just the glass on the table.
And it suits anyone who wants reverse osmosis at the lowest cost per litre. With no heater, no chiller and no screen, there is very little to go wrong and very little to run.
LIVING WITH IT
A 3.2-litre tank, a built-in pump, and lights that tell you when
A 100-gallon-a-day membrane produces about 0.26 litres a minute, which is DNA’s quoted flow rate. The 3.2-litre tank is what makes that work in practice: it holds purified water ready, so a jug fills from the tank rather than waiting on the membrane, and the pump refills it in about twelve minutes.
Like every reverse osmosis system, it sends part of the water it treats to the drain. DNA describes the Pure Flow as low-waste and prints its drain ratio as ‘1:5:1’. We have not been able to confirm that figure in a clearer form, so we are not going to convert it into litres for you.
Day to day, there is nothing to do but pour. The indicator lights on the unit show when a cartridge needs changing, and the two cartridges are the only parts that wear.
MADE FOR SOUTH AFRICAN POWER
Supplied for South African mains
DNA Health is a South African company, and the Pure Flow is supplied for South African 220 V mains with a South African plug on its power supply — not a 120 V import that needs a transformer to run.
The only thing drawing power is the pump, so the Pure Flow asks very little of an inverter during load-shedding compared with any machine that heats or chills water.
Warranty and service are handled in South Africa by DNA Health, from Johannesburg and a Cape Town showroom and warehouse. The Pure Flow carries a two-year warranty on the appliance; the cartridges are consumables.

How the Pure Flow sits against the alternatives
If you cannot or would rather not plumb anything in, the DNA Water Purifier 2 gives you reverse osmosis on the counter at a higher price, and adds hot water up to 95 °C. The Cara CA2901 does the same, with a UV lamp and remineralisation. Both have to be refilled by hand; the Pure Flow never does.
If you want everything, the DNA Water Bar is plumbed-in reverse osmosis with hot, chilled and sparkling water and a UV lamp, at a considerably higher price. It is the Pure Flow’s idea taken as far as it goes.
The DNA Water Cooler gives hot and cold water with no plumbing, but it filters rather than purifies. For purified water at the lowest cost, the Pure Flow is the one.
Questions we are asked about the DNA Pure Flow
If you are comfortable connecting a dishwasher, yes: the unit connects to the cold supply and the waste pipe under the sink, and everything you need is in the box. The faucet needs a hole in the counter or sink deck. If any of that is unfamiliar, a plumber will do it quickly. EcoHub supplies the system but does not install it.
