Every kind of water, from one machine on the counter
The DNA Water Bar is connected to your mains water and pours purified water four ways at the touch of a button: at room temperature, hot at 45, 85 or 95 °C, chilled to between 5 and 9 °C, or chilled and sparkling. Choose anything from 150 ml to 1.2 litres in one go.
Because it is plumbed in, there is no tank to refill and no bottle to change. DNA sizes it for a home or a small office of up to ten people — roughly the point at which a filter jug, a kettle and a bottle in the fridge stop keeping up.
It replaces a surprising amount at once: the kettle, the filter jug, the sparkling water you carry home from the shop, and the fridge shelf they all took up. What is left is one 28 cm-wide machine and its drip tray.

CONNECTED TO THE MAINS
Plumbed in once, and never refilled
The Water Bar takes its supply from your cold-water line through the T-connector supplied, and connects to the sink’s waste pipe with the drain clamp in the box — which is where a reverse osmosis system sends the water it rejects. Inlet and outlet pipes, a filter clip and a spanner are included, so there is nothing extra to buy.
That means it stands within reach of a cold-water supply and a drain, which in most homes means on the counter beside or near the kitchen sink. Anyone who has fitted a dishwasher or a fridge water line will recognise the job; otherwise it is a small one for any plumber. We supply the machine, not the installation.
Before ordering, check three things: where the cold-water line is, where the waste pipe is, and whether there is a plug point within reach. At 17.5 kg and up to 2,100 W it wants a solid counter and a socket of its own rather than a multi-plug.

Three kinds of treatment before the water reaches the glass
Water passes first through a carbon cartridge, which takes out chlorine and the tastes and smells that come with it, and then through a reverse osmosis membrane rated at 100 gallons a day, which removes most of the dissolved solids — salts, metals and the hardness that leaves scale in a kettle. DNA describes the system as four-stage reverse osmosis and says it reduces up to 1,000 contaminants found in tap water.
What sets it apart from a countertop purifier is the third step. An ultraviolet lamp in the tank treats the stored water against bacteria, which addresses the one weakness of any system that holds purified water for a while before you drink it.
Both cartridges sit pre-installed when the machine arrives. DNA’s product page gives their life as about six months and its spare-parts listing as six to twelve months depending on your water.
WHO IT IS FOR
Homes and small offices of up to ten people
In a busy family kitchen it is the machine that ends the queue at the kettle and the argument about who finished the sparkling water. Hot for tea and cooking, chilled for the lunchboxes, sparkling with dinner, all purified and all from the same spout.
In a small office it replaces the bottled-water cooler and its delivery schedule. Nobody has to heave a full water bottle onto a stand again, and the only consumables are two filters and a gas cylinder.
And for anyone who drinks sparkling water daily, the arithmetic is simple: every glass from the Water Bar is one less bottle bought, carried and thrown away.
SPARKLING ON TAP
Chilled sparkling water without the bottles
The Water Bar makes chilled sparkling water from the same purified supply, using a 60-litre CO₂ cylinder that comes in the box. There is no separate carbonator and no bottle to screw on — choose sparkling on the panel and it pours.
When the cylinder runs out, exchange it at a DNA stockist or order a refill online from DNA.
The digital touch panel handles all of it: water type, temperature and volume, with a child lock that keeps the 95 °C setting out of small hands.
MADE FOR SOUTH AFRICAN POWER
Built for South African mains and South African homes
DNA Health is a South African company, and the Water Bar is supplied as the 220–240 V, 50 Hz model with a South African plug. DNA’s specification also lists a 110–120 V, 60 Hz version for other markets — exactly the kind of unit an on-demand importer can send you by mistake. Ours is the South African one.
Plan for the load. DNA rates the machine at 2,100 watts while heating, and the cooling compressor draws 72 watts when it runs. If you intend to keep it going through load-shedding, check that your inverter or UPS can carry two kilowatts for hot water; the chilled and ambient sides ask much less of it.
Warranty and service are handled in South Africa by DNA Health, from Johannesburg and a Cape Town showroom and warehouse. The Water Bar carries a two-year warranty.

How the Water Bar sits against the alternatives
The real alternative is a countertop machine that does most of the same job without plumbing. The Cara CA3001 gives you reverse osmosis, hot and chilled water for less, and it goes wherever there is a plug. What it cannot do is carbonate, and it has to be refilled by hand. If sparkling water and never touching a tank are what you are paying for, the Water Bar earns its price; if not, the Cara is the better buy.
Within DNA’s own range, the DNA Water Purifier 2 is countertop reverse osmosis with hot and ambient water only, at a lower price. The DNA Pure Flow is plumbed-in reverse osmosis at its most economical — under the counter with its own tap — but it pours room-temperature water and nothing else.
The DNA Water Cooler heats and chills for less and needs no plumbing, but it filters with a carbon and ion-exchange cartridge rather than a membrane, and it has no sparkling option. It is a good water dispenser; the Water Bar is a purification system.
Questions we are asked about the DNA Water Bar
It needs connecting to a cold-water line and a drain, and everything for that is in the box: a T-connector for the supply, a drain clamp for the waste pipe, and the pipes and spanner. Anyone comfortable fitting a dishwasher can do it; otherwise any plumber can. EcoHub supplies the machine but does not install it.
DNA’s product page gives the filter life as about six months, and its spare-parts listing as six to twelve months depending on your water quality. Budget for one or two replacement filter sets a year; the carbon and reverse osmosis cartridges are changed together.

Every reverse osmosis system sends part of the water it treats to the drain, which is why the Water Bar has a drain connection. DNA does not publish the ratio for this machine, and we would rather say so than repeat a figure we cannot verify.
Cold water is chilled to between 5 and 9 °C by a compressor, the same way a fridge works. Hot water comes at three settings — 45, 85 and 95 °C — and there is ambient as well. A child lock on the panel guards the hot settings.
The carbon and reverse osmosis stages deal with taste, chlorine and dissolved solids, and the UV lamp treats the water held in the tank. Borehole water with a lot of sediment will shorten the filters’ life, so a sediment pre-filter on the supply is worth having, and any untested source should be tested before you rely on it.
DNA gives the unit as 40 by 28 by 45.5 cm and the net weight as 17.5 kg. The 28 cm is the width on the counter. Allow room behind for the pipe connections and within reach of a plug point.
DNA sizes it for a home or a small office of up to ten people. For a larger office, plan for more frequent filter changes and gas exchanges, or more than one machine.
The Water Bar carries a two-year warranty from DNA Health, handled in South Africa from DNA’s Johannesburg base and its Cape Town showroom and warehouse. Filters and CO₂ gas are consumables.
