SENSIRA FTXC-E
More cooling for larger rooms, at Sensira value
This is the 20 000 Btu Sensira in the new-generation FTXC-E series, pairing the larger FTXC60EV1F indoor unit with the RXC60EV1 outdoor unit. It is the size for larger lounges, open-plan living and dining areas, and big bedrooms.
It suits spaces of up to about 55 m² with a standard ceiling, and heats as well as it cools.
At its rating it delivers 6.23 kW of cooling (about 21 300 Btu/h) and 6.40 kW of heating, with a Daikin network adaptor built in for app control.

Proper Daikin inverter cooling and heating for the rooms you use, without paying for features they will rarely need.

EFFICIENCY
A++ cooling with a 7 kW ceiling
Daikin rates the Sensira 20 000 at a seasonal efficiency of 6.4 (SEER, A++) in cooling and 4.2 (SCOP, A+) in heating. At its rating it draws 1 890 W to deliver 6.23 kW of cooling.
The inverter varies its output between 1.80 and 7.00 kW in cooling and between 1.48 and 8.00 kW in heating, which gives it headroom on the hottest afternoons and lets it slow right down once a large room is comfortable.
The outdoor unit measures 615 × 845 × 300 mm and weighs 39 kg.
DESIGN
A cleaner look for the new generation
Daikin redesigned the Sensira for the FTXC-E series. The indoor unit takes its lines from Japanese origami: a sharp crease runs through the centre of the front panel and folds into a smooth, flat surface, with defined edges where the older Sensira was rounded.
A single, minimal LED indicator replaces the busier display of earlier models, so the unit sits quietly on the wall of a modern room.
At this size the indoor unit steps up to the wider body, 297 × 990 × 273 mm and 13 kg, with a fan that moves up to 20.4 m³/min.

WHERE IT WORKS
Made for open-plan living
Open-plan spaces need air moved a long way from one wall. The larger indoor unit’s fan moves up to 20.4 m³/min, and vertical auto-swing spreads it through the room.
On its quietest fan setting the indoor unit runs at 31 dBA. Powerful mode gives a short boost for a fast cool-down when everyone comes home.
If the space is lived in all day, the Perfera 20 000 Btu adds Comfort+ twin flaps that carry the air further, a motion sensor and air purification.
COMFORT AND FILTERS
Quiet, filtered, and easy to live with
A Saranet filter catches airborne dust as air enters the unit, and a titanium apatite deodorising filter takes up everyday odours. Both are there to keep the air the Sensira circulates cleaner; neither turns it into an air purifier, for which see our air purifiers.
Vertical auto-swing spreads the air through the room. Sleep mode eases the temperature through the night so the room does not end up too cold or too warm by morning, and Powerful mode gives a short boost when you come home to a hot room.
Econo mode caps the power draw, which helps when the aircon shares a solar or backup supply with the rest of the house, and the self-diagnosis function tells a technician where to look if something goes wrong.

MADE FOR SOUTH AFRICAN POWER
Daikin South Africa stock, ready for load-shedding
This unit is supplied through Daikin South Africa for a 220–240 V single-phase supply, so the local Daikin warranty applies and parts come through Daikin’s South African network. Air conditioners brought in by private importers are not always covered here.
Auto-restart returns the unit to its previous settings when the power comes back after an outage. At about 1.9 kW in cooling a 5 kW inverter carries it, with less left over for the rest of the house than the smaller Sensiras leave.
A Daikin network adaptor is built in, so the Sensira connects to Daikin’s Onecta app out of the box and can be controlled from your phone at home or away. An infrared remote is in the box.

How the Sensira 20 000 Btu sits against the alternatives
The Daikin Perfera 20 000 Btu is rated at 6.0 kW of cooling, slightly less than this Sensira’s 6.23 kW, and draws a little less power at its rating (1.77 kW against 1.89 kW). What it adds is comfort and air quality: Comfort+ twin flaps, a two-area motion sensor, Flash Streamer and two purifying filters. If capacity for the money is the priority, the Sensira is the better buy.
For a room under about 36 m² the Sensira 18 000 Btu is enough; for the largest spaces, the Sensira 24 000 Btu.
Where several rooms need cooling and there is little space outside, a multi-split system runs several indoor units from one outdoor unit.
Questions we are asked about the Sensira 20 000 Btu
Larger lounges and open-plan living areas of up to about 55 m² with a standard ceiling height. Double-volume ceilings or large west-facing glass add a lot of load; then the Sensira 24 000 Btu, or two smaller units, may be the better answer.
At its rating it draws 1 890 W in cooling and 1 680 W in heating, and less once the room is at temperature, because the inverter slows the compressor down to as little as 1.8 kW of output.
Yes, a 5 kW inverter carries it, and Econo mode can cap its draw. At about 1.9 kW in cooling it is a substantial load, though, so batteries drain noticeably faster on a hot afternoon. Auto-restart brings it back to its previous settings once the power returns.
The indoor unit runs from 31 dBA on its quietest setting to 48 dBA on high in cooling. The outdoor unit is rated at 54 dBA.
Yes. The new-generation Sensira has a Daikin network adaptor built in, so it connects to the Onecta app without an add-on module. The infrared remote is also supplied.
No. A split system has to be installed by a qualified installer, with copper piping, cabling and a bracket or base for the outdoor unit. Our installers cover the major South African cities and quote separately. The units can sit up to 30 m apart (20 m in height).
Not in the way a purifier does. The Saranet filter catches dust and the titanium apatite filter deodorises, but there is no Flash Streamer or HEPA stage. For allergies or smoke, look at the Perfera, which adds Flash Streamer and a silver allergen filter, or a dedicated air purifier.
