PERFERA A SERIES
The larger Perfera, for open-plan living
This is the 20 000 Btu Perfera, pairing the larger FTXM60A indoor unit with the RXM60R outdoor unit. It is the model for open-plan living areas, large lounges and spaces that run into a kitchen or dining room.
The indoor unit is the wider of the two A-series bodies, at 997 mm, with the same twin-flap Comfort+ airflow, motion sensor and Flash Streamer as the smaller Perferas and a bigger fan behind them.
At its nominal rating it delivers 6.0 kW of cooling (about 20 500 Btu/h) and 7.0 kW of heating, so it keeps a large room comfortable in winter as well as summer.

“Attractive, wall mounted design with perfect indoor air quality.” — Daikin

EFFICIENCY
An inverter from 1.7 to 7.0 kW
At its nominal rating the Perfera 20 000 draws 1.77 kW to deliver 6.0 kW of cooling, an EER of 3.39, and 1.94 kW to deliver 7.0 kW of heat.
The inverter range is what makes a unit this size economical. The compressor runs anywhere between 1.7 and 7.0 kW in cooling and 1.7 and 8.0 kW in heating, so once a large room is at temperature it throttles right down instead of switching on and off at full power.
Econo mode caps the power draw so the aircon can share a supply with other appliances, which helps on a solar or backup system.
COMFORT+
Twin flaps that spread the air evenly
The A series uses two airflow flaps instead of a single louvre. Together they narrow and steer the air so it carries further and settles evenly across the room, rather than leaving a cold patch under the unit. Daikin calls this Comfort+.
3D airflow combines vertical and horizontal auto-swing to reach the corners, and heat boost brings the room up to temperature up to 14% faster on start-up than a comparable Daikin unit without it.
The two-area motion sensor reads the room. It steers air away from where people are sitting, and when nobody has been detected for a while it drops to an energy-saving setting on its own.

WHERE IT WORKS
Made for large rooms and open-plan spaces
Open-plan living is where a single wall split has to work hardest: one unit, one end of the room, and air that has to reach the far side. The Perfera’s twin flaps narrow the airflow so it carries further, and the 15.6 m³/min fan moves enough air to do it.
The two-area motion sensor matters more in a big space too. It keeps the airflow off the people sitting near the unit, and drops to an energy-saving setting when the room has been empty for a while.
On its silent setting the indoor unit runs at 30 dBA in cooling, and the silent button takes a further 3 dB off when the room is in use for television or a meal.
CLEANER AIR
Flash Streamer and two purifying filters
Daikin’s Flash Streamer releases a stream of electrons that breaks down airborne allergens such as pollen and mould, and removes odours, as air passes through the indoor unit.
Behind it sit a silver allergen-removal filter, which captures pollen and similar allergens, and a titanium apatite deodorising filter for smells such as cooking, tobacco smoke and pets. The dust filters are removable and washable.
It does not replace a dedicated HEPA purifier for severe allergies or smoke; for that, look at our air purifiers. But the air the Perfera circulates is cleaner than the air it draws in.

MADE FOR SOUTH AFRICAN POWER
Daikin South Africa stock, ready for load-shedding
This unit is supplied through Daikin South Africa for a 220–240 V single-phase supply, so the local Daikin warranty applies and parts come through Daikin’s South African network. Air conditioners brought in by private importers are not always covered here.
Auto-restart returns the unit to its previous settings when the power comes back after an outage, so there is no reaching for the remote after load-shedding. At around 1.8 kW in cooling, a 5 kW inverter carries it, with less left over for the rest of the house than the smaller Perferas leave.
Control it through the built-in Wi-Fi and Daikin’s Onecta app, at home or away, with a weekly timer and voice control through Amazon Alexa or Google Assistant. An infrared remote is in the box.

How the Perfera 20 000 Btu sits against the alternatives
The Daikin Sensira 20 000 Btu is rated at 6.23 kW of cooling, slightly more than this Perfera’s 6.0 kW, with a SEER of 6.4 (A++) and built-in Onecta control. What the Perfera adds is the comfort and air-quality hardware: Comfort+ twin flaps, the two-area motion sensor, Flash Streamer and two purifying filters. If raw capacity per rand is the priority, the Sensira wins; if the room is lived in all day, the Perfera is the more comfortable unit.
For a room nearer 36 m² the Perfera 18 000 Btu is enough, and more efficient. For the largest open-plan spaces, the Perfera 24 000 Btu adds another 1.1 kW of cooling in the same indoor body.
Where several rooms need cooling and there is little space outside, Perfera indoor units also run off a single Daikin outdoor unit as a multi-split system.
Questions we are asked about the Perfera 20 000 Btu
Open-plan living areas and large rooms of up to about 55 m² with a standard ceiling height. Double-volume ceilings, large west-facing glass or a hot roof above add a lot of load; in those cases the Perfera 24 000 Btu, or two smaller units, may be the better answer.
At its nominal rating it draws 1.77 kW in cooling and 1.94 kW in heating. In practice it uses less once the room is at temperature, because the inverter slows the compressor down to as little as 1.7 kW of output.
Yes. At around 1.8 kW in cooling a 5 kW inverter carries it, and Econo mode can cap its draw further. It is a substantial load, though, so with other appliances running and on a hot afternoon your batteries will drain noticeably faster than with a smaller unit. Auto-restart brings it back to its previous settings once the power returns.
Indoors it runs from 30 dBA on silent to 46 dBA on high in cooling. The outdoor unit is rated at 48 dBA in cooling. Both units have a silent button that lowers their sound level by 3 dB.
Yes. Wi-Fi is built in, and Daikin’s Onecta app controls the unit at home or away, with scheduling and a view of past energy use. It works with Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant. The infrared remote is also supplied.
No. A split system has to be installed by a qualified installer, with copper piping, cabling and a bracket or base for the outdoor unit. Our installers cover the major South African cities and quote separately. The units can sit up to 30 m apart (20 m in height).
It cleans the air it circulates: Flash Streamer breaks down allergens and odours, a silver filter captures pollen, and a titanium apatite filter deodorises. It is not a HEPA air purifier, so for severe allergies or smoke a dedicated air purifier is the right tool.
